Welcome to the research website of natural and cultural heritage educator, Andrew Paul Smith.

Smith combines his passion for heritage conservation, education and documentary photography. He is a PhD candidate in Career & Technical Education, and a lecturer in the B.A. Communication Arts & Technology programmme at the University of Technology Jamaica. His research interests include using photography as a tool for heritage education, and utilizing natural and cultural heritage as catalysts for rural development. He is a member of the International Committee on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), an expert member of the ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Committee (ICOMOS ICTC), and a member of ICOMOS / ISPRS Committee for Documentation of Cultural Heritage (CIPA Heritage Documentation)

Visitors are encouraged to comment on Smith’s regular blog posts on issues relating to natural and cultural heritage conservation in a small island with a history of slavery and colonialism.

This website also serves as a research platform which hosts Smith’s material and information related to his research activities and interests.
